Behaviour Policy

I am committed to fostering a respectful and constructive environment for all constituents and visitors engaging with my website and associated digital platforms. This policy outlines the standards of behaviour expected when interacting with this website, its contact forms, and any related online communications or in person.

1. Respectful Communication

All visitors are expected to communicate respectfully when engaging with this website, including when submitting inquiries or comments. Abuse, threats, or offensive language will not be tolerated.

2. Aggressive or Abusive Behaviour

I understand that many constituents are often upset and angry about the issues they have raised. However, if that anger escalates into aggression towards my team, I consider that unacceptable. Any violence, threats, or abuse towards staff will not be tolerated.

Violence is not restricted to acts of aggression that may result in physical harm. It also includes behaviour or language (whether verbal or written) that may cause staff to feel offended, afraid, threatened, or abused.

Unacceptable language includes:

  • Offensive, derogatory, or patronising remarks;
  • Discriminatory comments, including racist, sexist, homophobic, or transphobic language;
  • Serious allegations of criminal, corrupt, or perverse conduct without evidence.

Threats against my team will be taken very seriously. If at any point during a conversation staff feel scared or threatened, the interaction may be ended immediately.

3. Unreasonable Levels of Contact

Excessive or persistent contact that impacts my office’s ability to assist other constituents may be deemed unreasonable. This includes:

  • Multiple calls in a short period;
  • Repeatedly making lengthy phone calls;
  • Sending excessive or irrelevant emails and correspondence.
  • Sending emails with URLs (website links) but no further information or context.

4. Harassment

My team have the right to carry out their duties free from harassment. Behaviours considered harassment include:

  • Recording telephone discussions and publishing them online;
  • Contacting staff via personal details or social media;
  • Publishing personal, sensitive, or private information about staff online or in public forums.

5. Unacceptable, Unreasonable, or Excessive Demands

A demand becomes unacceptable when it substantially impacts the work of my office. Examples include:

  • Repeatedly demanding responses within unreasonable timeframes;
  • Insisting on or refusing to speak to specific staff members;
  • Persistently changing complaints or raising unrelated concerns;
  • Making repeated and unnecessary contact while a complaint is being handled;
  • Refusing to accept a decision despite clear explanations.

6. Unacceptable and Persistent Levels of Contact

Contact becomes unacceptable when it prevents staff from assisting other constituents. Examples include:

  • Continuous contact while a matter is being considered;
  • Multiple calls in a short period;
  • Repeated lengthy conversations covering the same issues;
  • Sending large volumes of emails referencing the same concerns;
